Montclair State running back Chris D'Andrea missed the final eight games of last season with a foot injury. But he returns this year as a fifth-year redshirt.

The 5-9, 180-pound senior running back for 12th-ranked and co-defending New Jersey Athletic Conference champion Montclair State returns for a redshirt fifth year after suffering a season-ending injury at the end of a 21-7 victory at Kean University in Union (ironically, D’Andrea’s hometown) on Oct. 1 last season. He missed the final eight games of the season

For The Star-Ledger

Justin Laroda, right, of East Orange Campus is a quarterback to keep an eye on in 2011.

SEAN MAGUIRE, SETON HALL PREP, 6-3, 200

It may have seemed like Maguire merely handed off to 2,000-yard rusher Kevin Monangai every down last season, but that wasn’t so. He completed 49 percent of his throws for 1,161 yards and 13 TDs to help the Prep finish 10-1. The offense will be designed around the smarts and strong throwing arm of the Florida State-bound youngster.

DEVIN FULLER, OLD TAPPAN, 6-0, 185

The crafty senior is The Star-Ledger's No. 1 New Jersey recruit and a returning All-State selection at quarterback. He has 30 offers from teams in the Bowl Championship Subdivision. That he produced 4,150 yards of offense and 52 touchdowns in 2010 may explain the interest. With Fuller at the controls, every successful snap is a potential touchdown.
RYAN DAVIES, HOWELL, 6-3, 190

Running his school’s spread attack, he completed 67 percent of his passes for 2864 yards, 36 touchdowns and only six interceptions in his first year as the starter. The senior has been contacted by such schools as Connecticut, Maryland, North Carolina State, Pittsburgh and Rutgers.
BRANDON NAPOLEON, ST. PETER’S PREP, 5-11, 180

The West Virginia-bound Napoleon threw for six touchdowns and ran for three in his first year as the starting quarterback last season. Napoleon, whose father Eugene played at West Virginia from 1987-89, will also play cornerback in St. Peter’s 3-4 defense.
KHALIF HERBIN, MONTCLAIR, 5-7, 170

He used speed, guts and some tantalizing moves in the open field to help Montclair overcome key early-season injuries to finish 7-5. Herbin compiled more than 3,000 total yards, including 1,480 rushing, and accounted for 31 touchdowns.  The skill around him this season at running back and receiver only increases his threat.
